Scriptural Understanding on Finances
As Andrew Shreeve Ministries is a faith mission, we look to God’s covenant promises as the basis and source of our supply to do God’s work. Jesus has promised in Matthew 6:19-34 to provide our physical needs if we seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. Jesus teaches in the parable of the sower in Mark 4:26, so is the kingdom of God as if a man should cast seed into the ground'. The seed is God’s Word and the ground is the human heart. The way we seek first the kingdom of God is, therefore, to plant and keep the Word of God alive in our heart. Through keeping alive in our heart the exceeding great and precious promises of God' (2 Peter 1:4), we will partake of God’s divine nature and have all things that pertain unto life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3). In addition, our newly created spirit was made righteous when we were born again (Ephesians 4:24). This means, as righteous spirits, we qualify for all the benefits of God's promises (2 Corinthians 1:20). Material provision is therefore guaranteed by God when we exercise faith in His promises, and are led by the Holy Spirit.
If financial circumstances are adverse, we move closer to God in prayer and meditation of His Word. We strive to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit to ensure all our actions, expenditures, and missionary endeavours reflect God’s priorities. We keep God’s promises concerning financial provision in the midst of our heart so we will be full of faith (Romans 10:17), ensuring we do not limit God through fear, or unbelief.
We also realize that the money needed for God’s work is on earth and not in heaven. God will use men and women to finance this ministry through gifts and offerings (Luke 6:38).
We have created this web site as a means of communicating the vision God has given us and provided financial structures (bank accounts and a PayPal account) so people, who are like minded, can supply the finances and partake of the blessing of being involved in global missions.
The number one motive for giving should be love. Faith works by love (Galations 5:6). God so LOVED the world that He gave His only begotten Son (John 3:16). The expression of love is to give. In the instance of this ministry, you give because you love the people we minister to and believe the most significant long term gift they need is revelation knowledge of the Word of God, Jesus Christ.
Although we are moved by love, the bible also encourages us to be aware there is a blessing for the giver. When we give it is good to consider the following Scriptures below. Pray and speak over your seed (finance) and believe God for the seed to prosper and multiply.
15 Now ye Philippians know also. That in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only. 16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again to my necessity. 17 Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. 18 But I have all and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God. 19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
This powerful promise that God shall supply all your need is written in the context of those who were financial partners with the Apostle Paul in his missionary journeys. Paul reminds the Philippians givers that they will be blessed with fruit that may abound to your account. Paul describes the Philippians' financial giving as a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God. When you give into this ministry you are a partaker with the fruit of this ministry. You are offering an acceptable sacrifice to God. You become a co-labourer in the establishment of God’s covenant among the nations.
2 Corinthians 9:5-12
5 I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up before hand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as covetousness. 6 but this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man accordingly as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: 9 (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth forever. 10 Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;) 11 Being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. 12 For the administration of this service not only supplieth the wants of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God.
This passage of scripture is also written in the context of financial giving to the saints (2 Corinthians 8:13-14, 9:1). The bible, in this instance, refers to money as seed (verse 10). You can sow money! Well, if you sow carrot seed you reap carrots. If your sow spinach seeds you reap spinach. If you sow money seed you reap money! (Verse 6) And the bible says, not only will you reap what you sow, but you will reap a multiplied amount of money back (verse 10)!
The bible teaches that God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that ye always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work. The gospel of Jesus Christ includes financial provision for those who have faith in the Lord's promises of financial provision. In addition, when we give financially we put into motion the law of sowing and reaping, opening up a divine multiplied provision into our life. The gospel empowers us financially to continue doing good works. When you give, you are not only financially blessed, but you also increase the fruits of your righteousness (verse 10)!
Andrew Shreeve Ministries encourages budgeted monthly, and spontaneous, financial contributions by churches, businesses, and individuals who love God and believe in preaching the gospel to the ends of the world. No matter how large or small, your offering will make a difference. Your financial contribution will strengthen the outreach and enable us to publish the Word of God, thus building God’s kingdom.
