- Resources / Study
Dear partners and friends,
Andrew Shreeve Ministries is pleased to announce we have completed a very significant enhancement to the "Teaching - Written" section of www.andrewshreeve.org. There are now more than 175 short written teachings freely available for study conveniently listed under 38 categories headings.
This is an invaluable resource, as these teachings, based on Scripture, were written in the heat and pressure of battle during Andrew's more than 110 successful international mission trips, over the past 15 years.
The teachings equip us with the revelation knowledge necessary to overcome and experience the tremendous victory Jesus has purchased for us in such areas as: how to walk in love, physical healing, financial provision, righteousness, spiritual warfare, how to control our thought life, developing our faith shield, being filled and led by the Holy Spirit, and much more.
This teaching resource is available to the body of Christ without charge as Jesus says: freely ye have received, freely give (Matthew 10:8), and as Paul the apostle wrote: when I preach the gospel, I make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel (1 Corinthians 9:18). The teachings are also formatted for smart-phone or lap / desk-top.
Be blessed, I love you, Andrew

Making the distinction between spiritual seed and money seed
(Please note: this teaching is not suggesting we should no longer work for our living. Rather, through faith in the gospel, Jesus has set us free from being economic slaves, so that we are empowered to work in the area of His calling, gifting and leading, without the fear of poverty).
Year of Jubilee
In Luke 4:18-19, Jesus proclaims that the spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He hath anointed me to preach the gospel… to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. Commentators agree that "the acceptable year of the Lord" is a reference to the year of Jubilee, the fiftieth year, when in Israel, debt was cancelled, people returned to their possessions, their ancestral lands, and their family. People did not financially oppress each other, slaves were set free, and the Lord caused the earth to supernaturally bring forth food (Leviticus 25:8-55). Jesus was proclaiming a 'spiritual' "acceptable year of the Lord" not just for Israel, but for the whole world; where the sins of the world would be forgiven, people would be released from Satan's power, people would be reconciled into the Lord's eternal family, and people's physical needs would be supernaturally provided.
The gospel is the supernatural, miracle power of God to provide for our every need, spirit, soul and body (Romans 1:16). This includes our financial needs. The gospel of Christ is the power of God, and is only limited by our will and faith to believe what God's has given to us, revealed in His written promises (Isaiah 53:1)!
So is the kingdom of God as if a man should cast seed into the ground
Jesus is referring to the Lord's spiritual Word / seed being sown into the human heart (Mark 4:14-15). The power of God's kingdom is unleashed into our lives as we cultivate His spiritual seeds in our heart, creating the faith which will draw the Lord's power to bring the fulfilment of His seed / promises (Mark 4:20). As Jesus said, seek ye first the kingdom of God (this means to give first priority to cultivating His spiritual seeds in our heart)… and all these things (the things in context include food and raiment = money) shall be added unto you (Matthew 6:33, Mark 4:26). Jesus clearly affirms that food and clothes (we need money for food, clothes and shelter) will be added to us as we give first priority to cultivating the seed of God's promises in our heart.
With regards to receiving the power of the gospel for financial provision, we are not talking about acquiring great wealth, or storing up treasures on earth, but rather the simplicity of having our financial needs adequately met (Matthew 6:19). As the scripture says:
Having food and raiment (raiment means: covering - clothes and shelter) let us be therewith content
1st Timothy 6:8
This teaching is not implying that every Christian should become a very wealthy person with hordes of cash, property and investments, but rather that every Christian should be debt free and have sufficient finances to lead a healthy, blessed and comfortable life.
We have presented enough scriptures above, and in part 1, to be assured that financial provision is included in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We now need to establish this truth into our hearts by meditating the scriptures presented. Our qualification for receiving this financial provision is our righteous position in Christ which is based on the new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17, 21, 1:20)
The Apostle Paul's argument of faith - not works
This only would I learn of you, received ye the Spirit by the works of law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Paul is talking about our justification before the Lord. We were justified by faith and remain perfectly justified in God's sight by faith. We don't need to add the works of law to be justified before the Lord! As we have studied the scriptures above we have seen that financial provision is a product, promise, or blessing, which is associated with our righteousness in Christ. Do we now need to add law to ensure our financial provision is perfect? If we need to add a law, like sowing money seed into a Christian ministry, then provision is, no longer by grace through faith but, by law. If provision is by law than it is not by grace; and the gospel promise of financial provision will not profit us!
Now I am an advocate of tithing and sowing money into Christian ministries. If we are really in faith for the gospel promise of financial provision, we will be a sower of money seed. These are good works which should be encouraged. But what is incorrect is if we replace the promise of God's financial provision in the gospel of Christ with the law of sowing and reaping money seed. If we do this the gospel will not profit us as we have cut ourselves off from the power of the Lord's provision, because our faith is not in what Christ has done for us but rather in our money seed which we have planted. To receive the Lord's power we need to have our in faith in His promises, based on what Jesus has done for us, not in our money seed sown (Hebrews 6:12).
This is not to say that if we plant money seed we will not receive a blessing from that money seed, we will. The law of sowing and reaping money seed is true. However, the essence of our faith and what we value more highly, is the gospel of Jesus Christ which guarantees our redemption from the curse of the law which includes: freedom from poverty, lack, hunger, thirst, nakedness and the want of all things (Galatians 3:13, Deuteronomy 28:15, 48, Psalm 23:1). The planting of our money seed is a separate way of increasing our finance, like working a job, building a business, or making a good investment. Even though the Lord is involved in the multiplying of our money seed sown, we need to keep the sowing of our money seed separate, in our understanding, from the power of the gospel (2 Corinthians 9:10).
The Power of the Gospel
The good news, and an aspect of the truth of the gospel, is that Jesus broke the power of poverty over the human race and has released His spiritual power for financial provision to those who will simply believe (Galatians 3:13, 2 Corinthians 1:20). This power from the Lord is accessed by faith (Hebrews 6:12). Faith for financial provision is received through receiving and cultivating the spiritual seeds of the Lord's promised financial provision in our heart (Romans 10:17, Mark 4:26).
In addition to the spiritual seed which brings the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ, let us also briefly study some principles of physical money seed:
Law of Sowing and Reaping
The law of sowing and reaping has been established in the earth and will work for any human who will put it into motion.
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease
In the context of preparing a financial offering for the saints, the apostle Paul writes:
He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully… God… multiply your seed sown
2 Corinthians 9:6, 8, 10
The apostle Paul teaches that money is seed, and that the law of sowing and reaping applies to money seed; as the scripture says, we will reap according to what we sow. When we sow our money seed, it will be multiplied.
Jesus also teaches along a similar line, and it is not unreasonable to include money as one of the things which we can give:
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again
The law of sowing and reaping is governed by the law of measure, or quantity. Whatever measure, or quantity, we sow we will reap a proportionate increase. In the example of sowing money seed, those who have a lot of money seed to start with, can initially multiply more money than the person who has little money seed to start with. With regards to applying the law of sowing and reaping to money seed, the rich man has an advantage over the poor man as he has more money seed to start with, with which to multiply. The law of sowing and reaping is impartial, and is a way for both rich and poor to increase their finances.
Whilst it is good be aware of, understand, and implement the law of sowing and reaping money seed to bless others, put treasure in heaven, and also increase our financial wealth; along with other financial laws like: being diligent in our work, not being lazy, and walking in love, it should always remain as a separate, issue and, financial channel of increase, compared to the power of the gospel of Jesus Christ (Proverbs 10:4, 12:24, 13:4).
The gospel of Jesus Christ is God's gracious gift received by faith in God's Word. The gospel includes God's power to meet our financial needs.
The gospel is spiritual in nature, and not physical, in that it works when we receive and cultivate spiritual seed in our heart. We need to distinguish between: the spiritual seed of God's financial promises which bring faith to receive God's gracious supply in the financial realm and, the law of sowing physical money seed which will bring a financial increase into our lives. They are two separate issues: the first is accessing the power of the free gift of the gospel, and the second is the application of a spiritual law in the earth.
Financial provision, through the gospel of Jesus Christ, is received by grace through faith. Faith comes from spiritual seed. Financial provision is God's gift to the born-again Christian based on our becoming righteous in the new creation and our redemption from the curse of the law, because Jesus was cursed for us on the Cross of Calvary (Galatians 3:13-14). We have a right to receive financial provision based on our righteousness in Christ, and our faith in the Lord's promises of financial provision (2 Corinthians 5:21).
Being involved in the sowing and reaping of money-seed, through giving into Christian' ministries is a good work; but is not a requirement, or law, to receiving financial supply through the gospel of Jesus Christ, it is rather a separate and distinct channel of financial increase.
Dear Lord, thank you for the truth of the gospel that you have redeemed us from the curse of the law which includes: poverty, lack, hunger, thirst, nakedness and the want of all things (Galatians 3:13, Deuteronomy 28:15, 48, Psalm 23:1). Thank you that we can live by faith in your promises, and that your promises can provide for us financially.
Please enlighten us to know in our heart that through Jesus' death on the Cross you have freed us from the bondage of poverty. Your power is available to provide for us financially, as we believe in your promises of financial provision. We pray this in Jesus Christ name, Amen.
