Welcome

Dear partners and friends,

I pray the Lord will strengthen you to put on the whole armour of God. That means each of the six pieces. When we are properly armoured, we experience more power and blessing from the Lord, and the devil spirits are unable to sabotage our lives and ministries. The devil spirits will continue to try and destroy our lives however, their missiles will be extinguished and their attacks will not cause lasting damage. We will continue to move forward in the power and anointing of the Lord, destroying the devil’s works and establishing the Lord’s kingdom.

We are presently in Kobe, Japan ministering with Kobe Full Gospel Church. Last Tuesday a lady came forward, and we prayed with her to place her trust in Jesus Christ for her eternal salvation. She will be water baptised next week. It is a wonderful pleasure to witness the love and commitment of these precious Japanese Christians. We continue to stand with the Japanese church, believing for the salvation of the Emperor of Japan, his family, the Prime Minister and his cabinet, and the entire nation of Japan. As the scripture says:

God our saviour; who will have all men to be saved, and to come to the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus

1 Timothy 2:3-5

With love,

Andrew

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; and for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make know the mystery of the gospel

Ephesians 6:10-19

And take the helmet of salvation

Ephesians 6:17

Dictionary definitions

Take - (Greek: ‘dechomai’): to receive: - accept, receive, take (Strong’s Dictionary)

Helmet – (Greek: ‘perikephalaia’): encirclement of the head, that is a helmet:- helmet (Strong’s Dictionary)

Salvation – (Greek: ‘soterion’): defender or (by implication) defence:- salvation (Strong’s Dictionary). ‘Salvation’ – the act of saving, preservation from destruction, danger or calamity. Redemption of man from the bondage of sin and liability to eternal death, and the conferring on him everlasting happiness (Webster’s Dictionary).

The helmet of salvation carries the idea of defence against danger, calamity and destruction. Scripture reveals that devil spirits are actively shooting destructive, and potentially deadly, missiles at us (Ephesians 6:16). We only need to turn on the news to understand that calamity, sickness, disease, poverty and danger impacts a large proportion of the inhabitants of this earth. If you have gotten through life, so far, without major calamity, or attack, of some kind you would be a very fortunate exception to the majority. Even great wealth, though extremely helpful, cannot 100% protect us from certain attacks like incurable diseases, and mental and spiritual attacks.

The helmet of salvation doesn’t just include protection for our lives on earth, but also secures our eternal destiny in oneness with the resurrected Christ. The helmet of salvation includes the ongoing appropriation of the remission of our sins, and the freeing of our spirits from the dominion of sin and the devil spirits. The consequence of this freedom is the eternal liberation of our spirits into a state of the righteousness of God (2 Corinthians 5:21).

It would be a foolhardy person indeed who, once being alerted to the dangers present in this world, would continue walking nonchalantly through life without making a concerted effort to protect his, or her, life with God’s helmet of salvation. It would be like a soldier, when commanded by his sergeant to take cover due to incoming enemy fire, continues to stroll unprotected through the battle field, whistling and appreciating the beauty of the surroundings but, ignorantly unaware of the danger of the enemies’ bullets, which could at any moment pierce and rip through his unprotected body.

How to Take the Helmet of Salvation

To put on the helmet of salvation we need to accept and receive the manifold promises of the Lord, which promise the delivery of God’s power, which will protect us against the attacks of the enemy.

It is important to note at this point that when we become born again into Christ Jesus we take on Jesus’ righteousness. It is Jesus’ righteousness, imparted to us through the new birth, which qualifies us for every written promise of the Lord in Scripture (2 Corinthians 5:17, 21, 1:20).

The Lord has written promises for us to cover multiple aspects of our lives. We will now look at seven important areas where we need to take the helmet of salvation to secure our protection:

  • Forgiveness and Remission of Sins

Their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin

Hebrews 10:17-18

Justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past

Romans 3:24-25

He hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins

Ephesians 1:6-7

  • Guarantee of Eternal Life

This is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son

1 John 5:11

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life

John 3:16

  • Long Life on Earth

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty… with long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation

Psalm 91:1, 16

Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding… length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour

Proverbs 3:13, 16

Honour thy father and mather; which is the first commandment with promise; that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth

Ephesians 6:2-3

  • Financial Provision

My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus

Philippians 4:19

Seek first then kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you

Matthew 6:33

The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thy hand unto

Deuteronomy 28:8

Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thy increase: so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine

Proverbs 3:9-10

  • Health and Healing

When Jesus was come… He cast out the spirits with His Word, and healed all that were sick: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses

Matthew 8:14, 16-17

By whose stripes ye were healed

1 Peter 2:24

Bless the Lord… forget not all His benefits… who healeth all they diseases

Psalm 103:2-3

I will restore health unto thee, and I will heal thee of thy wounds, saith the Lord

Jeremiah 30:17

  • Safety from Attack and Accident

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty… a thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee… for He shall give His angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash they foot against a stone

Psalm 91:1, 7, 11-12

  • Peace for our Soul

Thou shalt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee

Isaiah 26:3

The Lord is my shepherd… thou anointest my head with oil

Psalm 23:1, 5

To be spiritually minded is life and peace

Romans 8:6

The peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus

Philippians 4:7

To take the helmet of salvation we will need to meditate each of these Scriptural promises individually, so that our mind is fortified to the point where contrary and opposing thoughts cannot penetrate our mind or imagination. In addition, we need to entertain each of these Scriptural promises deep in our heart over a protracted period of time, so that the living seed can take root and grow in our heart. The seed will then produce the glorious, anointing, peace, power and love of the Lord! The Lord’s anointing will saturate our mind with calmness and confidence.

Conclusion

To take the helmet of salvation is to, open our hearts and, actively receive the written promises of Scripture which guarantee our protection and well-being in key areas of our lives. In this teaching, I have listed seven important areas of: the remission and forgiveness of our sins, the guarantee of eternal life, the promises of long life on the earth, the promise of abundant financial provision, the promise of good health and healing, the promise of divine protection and safety, and the provision of peace for our souls. Scripture, also, includes protection in many more aspects of our lives.

It is too simplistic to suggest that a simple faith in Jesus’ shed-blood, and Jesus Christ as Lord, will adequately protect us from the manifold attacks and dangers on this earth; though a simple faith in Christ does guarantee our entrance to heaven and qualification for every promise in Scripture. However, to take the helmet of salvation it is necessary to take each individual promise of Scripture and saturate our heart and mind with God’s Word on a continual basis.

Our lives today are not dissimilar to the many dangers Joshua faced as he led Israel into the enemy infested, promised land of Israel. We also need to dwell in the secret place of the promises for our salvation:

The book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for the thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success

Joshua 1:8

Prayer

Dear Father God, thank you for this fifth piece of your armour, the helmet of salvation. Thank you that you have provided protection for us from all the dangers and calamities present upon the earth. Thank you that we can dwell safely in your secret place, under your shadow of protection. Please help us understand that we need to take up each individual promise you have graciously given to us, and plant them into our minds and hearts. Please strengthen us to be diligent to take up the helmet of salvation, so that we will enjoy a long, blessed, healthy, prosperous, fruitful life on this earth; and triumphant entry into heaven. We pray this in Jesus Christ, amen.
